Why specialized training matters

Specialized training addresses both function and appearance.

Oculofacial plastic surgery focuses on the eyelids, orbit, tear drainage system, and the relationship between appearance and function.

What the training means

The eyelid has a job.

It protects the eye, spreads the tear film, and helps preserve the field of vision. An effective treatment plan must account for both how the eyelid looks and how it functions.

Oculofacial plastic surgeons complete additional fellowship training after ophthalmology residency focused on eyelid, orbital, lacrimal, and reconstructive care.

Why access matters

Specialized care should reach beyond major cities.

Patients in smaller communities may need to travel long distances for subspecialty evaluation. We built this network to make specialized care more accessible while preserving local coordination and experienced surgeon involvement.

Services, surgeon availability, and follow-up are confirmed location by location.

How care works

A local team, connected to subspecialty expertise.

The exact services and schedule vary by location. Participating centers will publish their verified details as they are ready to accept patients.

01

Local team

Your local team coordinates evaluation, scheduling, insurance-related questions, and follow-up based on the services available in the community.

02

Visiting specialist

A qualified oculofacial plastic surgeon visits participating markets on a scheduled basis when surgery or other subspecialty care is appropriate.

03

Care closer to home

Many patients can complete evaluation, surgery, and follow-up with less long-distance travel. Your center will explain what is available locally.

What we treat

Functional and cosmetic—usually both at once.

Many patients arrive with a cosmetic concern and learn it is affecting their vision. Others arrive the other way around.
